Leather & Suede

Due to its strong, durable nature, a portion of Witchery clothing, shoes and bags are crafted from leather and suede. Some styles may be varied due to the nature of working with natural hides such as calf, lamb, and kid leathers. Natural markings from the hide are a part of the beauty of working with leather materials, therefore can contribute to slight variances or inconsistencies.

Follow the below guidelines to keep your leather and suede shoes, bags and accessories in their best condition:

Do

  • Please spray your shoes, and bags before wear with leather protectant (water-proofer) to repel water, oils, perfumes and any other liquids they may come into contact with, avoiding any hardware
  • Avoid exposure to water before leather protectant is applied
  • Store shoes and bags out of direct sunlight to protect surfaces from sun fading
  • Store shoes and bags in cloth bags to protect surfaces from scratching
  • Always dry at normal room temperature
  • If the leather outsole gets wet, please allow the leather to dry completely before next use
  • Clean your footwear regularly, ensure to use a soft cloth with no dye to wipe marks and dirt
  • Over time the natural wear of leather may become dry and lose some of it’s natural finish, we recommend using a leather conditioner with a soft cloth to help restore the natural oils in the leather
  • Ensure neutral leather conditioner is used on dyed leather to avoid unwanted colour change
  • Consult a specialist leather cleaner
  • Where possible ensure to have the top piece of your shoes replaced by a shoe repairer before they become too worn away and too difficult to mend

Don't

  • Rub leather or suede surfaces when wet
  • Keep items or garments near humidity, heat or chemicals for extended periods
  • Expose your leather products to water, any product containing alcohol (perfume, solvents), or any other abrasive products that may damage the leather

Follow the below guidelines to keep your leather and suede garments in their best condition:

Do

  • Store leather garments in a climate-controlled area, such as a closet
  • Hang leather garments on wide, well-shaped and padded coat hanger
  • Professionally clean leather & suede garments with specialist cleaners only
  • If your garment gets wet, hang it evenly on hanger to air dry at room temperature
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat; direct sunlight can fade the colour of leather or cause spotty discoloration

Don't

  • Apply direct heat to leather as this will damage the natural material on the surface
  • Store leather inside a plastic bag – if temporarily storing leather in a zip clothing bag, open the bag whenever convenient to expose to air
