She has an inclination for being incredibly organised, so much so, Beck Wadworth has turned her virtue into a career with her sell-out stationery collection An Organised Life of stylish daily planners, travel diaries, pens and more.

Learn how Beck started her business and has kept on top of things, in the chicest way possible.

How did your career evolve?

Before I started An Organised Life, I studied graphic design in Auckland for 4 years. When I graduated, I worked in fashion in Auckland for one year and then Sydney for 5+ years across eCommerce, social media, marketing, graphic design and PR.

I started An Organised Life as a hobby when I was 24, while I focused on my career. I went home every night and packed orders, grew the wholesale arm of the brand and taught myself everything about business from scratch. I took my time and set myself short term and long-term goals - big and small.

Fast forward 6 years down the track and I now have an office and a small team based in Sydney and Melbourne, plus a business that is growing significantly by the day at the moment! I have also been fortunate enough to grow a social media presence personally and now get to align with some of my favourite brands on projects and ambassador rolls. It’s been an incredible journey, but I’ve worked hard and I’ve loved every minute.

What has been your career highlight thus far?

I have been really fortunate to collaborate with an array of incredible people and brands both personally and for An Organised Life. A few years ago, I collaborated with Karen Walker on a range of notebooks and this year alone we have worked with Net-A-Porter, Together Journal, Lexus, and Air New Zealand.

Personally, it was a massive career highlight being signed with the likes of Veuve Clicquot who I have been with for over 5 years now and also Lexus. These alignments have meant I have been able to have some pretty incredible experiences travelling and working with the brands that I admire.

Another massive one for me, is literally seeing the customers and products grow every year for An Organised Life. It sounds simple, but when you notice customers' names pop up and you know they have ordered from the start, that’s really special. Also seeing new customers pop up and knowing that you will be helping them to tick off their goals, manage their schedule and become (hopefully) a part of the everyday life.

What advice would you give to anyone taking the leap and starting their own business?

‘

Being organised just makes life that bit more enjoyable and stress-free and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have you always been an organised person, or is this a skill you have learnt along the way?

I’ve always been an organised person and have always relied on an annual diary and daily to-do list for as long as I can remember – I think I get it from my parents!

Over the years, it’s definitely developed as I’ve discovered new formulas for dealing with time management, learnt how to prioritize better and problem solve when different situations have arisen. It’s something I (of course) love. Being organised just makes life that bit more enjoyable and stress-free and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What are your top organisation tips for 2020?

What is your go-to office look?

Definitely a blazer and classic white tee. I always feel my best in this look. This is usually paired with denim, a tailored pant (black or white) and either white sneakers or kitten heels.

What are your top 3 travel essentials?

What are you looking forward to wearing this summer?

I love wearing lots of fresh white looks over summer. Linen pants and tank tops or lightweight tees. Lots of loose black dresses and of course - sandals!

Any fashion regrets?

I think I was finding my style back in my earlier Uni days and cringe a little when I look back at what I used to invest in! Styles that didn’t suit my body shape and also lots and lots of prints.

These days my style is a lot more refined and I have a very minimalist wardrobe. I always try to think of at least 3 outfits before I purchase any piece to make sure it has longevity and will be worn. I’m also not afraid to stick to what I love rather than following trends. I love a classic and timeless look.

What can we expect from Beck Wadworth / An Organised Life in 2020?

We have lots of new things happening for An Organised Life which is really exciting. 2019 was a massive growth year for myself and my business and I can’t wait for another big one in 2020. I’ll be doing lots of travel and just making the most of every opportunity.
